What’s happening? On January 2, 2018, reports surfaced of several serious design flaws in some modern computer processor architectures including X86 and ARM (CVE-2017-5754). These flaws have existed for many years and make all modern computers – servers, desktops, laptops, and mobile devices potentially susceptible to this issue known as “Meltdown”. Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, and Linux devices all appear to be affected to some extent.
To address these concerns, updates are required at the operating system level.
Actions taken by Symantec Symantec and its cloud service providers have patched the host servers for the SEP Mobile infrastructure to ensure that all cloud servers are safe from the Meltdown issue.
Action required by customers No action is required by SEP Mobile customers at this time other than ensuring that the operating systems on their devices receive any emergency updates that are issued.
